As a business and economic development executive, Dr. Ioanna Morfessis has focused her professional life on helping communities and companies create and execute successful change and growth strategies. Regarded as one of the top business and economic development executives in the nation, she founded three best-of-class economic development organizations in the U.S.: Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, Greater Phoenix Economic Council and Montgomery County, MD Office of Economic Development. During her tenure in these organizations, her work led to the attraction of more than $27 billion of private capital investment and the creation of more than 250,000 new direct jobs in these markets. Through her consulting practice, she has developed economic development strategies and programs for states, regions, counties and cities, and assisted Global 1000 companies with their site location projects. She served as the Chairman of the International Economic Development Council and is an Honorary Lifetime Member. In September 2011, the IEDC awarded its Lifetime Excellence and Achievement Award to Dr. Morfessis.
